Atopica is for the treatment of chronic manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs. Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common allergic skin diseases in dogs and is caused by allergens such as house dust mites or pollens, which stimulate an exaggerated immune response in atopic dogs. The disease is chronic, recurrent, and requires lifelong management.

• Active Ingredient: Cyclosporine A (100 mg per capsule)

• Indication (Dogs): Treats chronic manifestations of atopic dermatitis.

• How It Works: Immunomodulator with anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic activity. Inhibits T-lymphocyte activation, reduces histamine release, and decreases allergic skin reactions.

• Form: Soft capsule

• Administration: Initially given daily until satisfactory clinical improvement is seen (typically within 4 weeks). Maintenance dosing may be reduced to every other day or every 34 days under veterinary guidance. Administer at least 2 hours before or after feeding.

• Special Precautions: Not for dogs under 6 months or under 2 kg; not for breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs. Avoid use in dogs with a history of malignant disorders. Monitor glucose levels in dogs with signs of diabetes. Do not vaccinate with live vaccines during treatment or within 2 weeks before/after use.

• Possible Side Effects: Mild gastrointestinal upset, lethargy, hyperactivity, gingival hyperplasia, skin changes, red/swollen ears, or muscle weakness (often resolve after stopping treatment).
