Iverhart Plus is a heartworm preventative for dogs that also treats and controls roundworms and hookworms. This pork-flavored chewable is safe for dogs six weeks of age and older, including pregnant and breeding females. With its palatable taste, most dogs readily accept the chew, making prevention simple and effective.

Key Details:

• Strength & Count: 1 tablet; for dogs weighing 2650 lbs.

• Active Ingredients: Ivermectin 136 mcg; Pyrantel pamoate 114 mg

• Class: Antiparasitic (heartworm, roundworm, and hookworm control)

• Indications:

  • Prevents canine heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis)

  • Treats and controls ascarids (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina)

  • Treats and controls hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma braziliense)

• Dosage & Administration:

  • Give 1 chewable tablet orally once monthly

  • Can be given by hand, added to food, or placed in the back of the mouth for swallowing

  • Must be given monthly during mosquito season; the first dose should be within 30 days of initial mosquito exposure and the last dose within 30 days of final exposure

  • Dogs over 100 lbs. should be dosed with the appropriate combination of chewables

• Cautions/Warnings:

  • Prescription required; federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian

  • Dogs must be tested for existing heartworm infection prior to starting treatment

  • Not effective against adult heartworms or for clearing microfilariae; infected dogs require additional treatment

  • Some dogs with circulating microfilariae may experience mild hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., transient diarrhea)

  • Keep out of reach of children. In case of accidental ingestion by humans, contact a physician immediately

• Storage: Store at 6877F (2025C); excursions permitted between 5986F (1530C). Protect from light

• Regulatory: Use only under veterinary supervision. Discard or return unused tablets.
